Confederate White House, Richmond VA
This photo was taken from the courtyard at the entrance to the Confederate White House in Richmond. The museum at President Jefferson Davis’ residence is an outstanding blend of both original and period pieces. The house looks just as elegant and stately on the inside, although much of the fancy treatments on the interior are a facade, due to the lack of materials and finances during the war. Unfortunately, urban sprawl continues to suffocate the immediate blocks around the estate.
