Next month I will be reviewing a new PBS documentary that explores the faith of the Founding Fathers and the path to religious liberty in America (*note the use of the word ‘religious’ and NOT exclusively Christian). Titled First Freedom: The Fight for Religious Liberty, this special will debut on PBS on Tuesday, December 18, 2012. Talking heads in the piece include Douglas Brinkley, Forrest Church, John Hope Franklin, Jon Meacham and Cokie Roberts. I just received my press screener DVD in the mail and cannot wait to view it. You may recall that one of my on-off manuscript projects is titled Faith and Freedom in Fredericksburg: Jefferson and the VA Statute of Religious Freedom. Of course I’m already under contract from now until 2014 for 2 music books and 2 more sports history books before I can get back to that one.
